Like with 'Hurrikan' for "Tekkno", let's use 'The Way You Are' as an emblematic piece for the entirety of "Tanznied" from Electric Callboy. 'Hurrikan' had a poppy part combined with a deathcore switch halfway, and was the perfect piece to show to someone to illustrate the spectrum of Electric Callboy's style. 'The Way You Are' is an evolved version of 'Hurrikan', and even arguably a better song, yet despite the evolution there, the rest of "Tanznied" is not. The title track, 'Ratatata', and 'Hypercharged' all feel so safely generic that one of them probably should've been cut from the track selection. Normally, that would do it - but no, there's a cover of Sum 41's 'Still Waiting', which is a great cover but should've been a bonus track, not within the 10 songs on "Tanznied"; in other words, that should've been the cut song. The album isn't without its merits though, as the likes of 'Revery' sees the band opt for new sounds, and the best track 'Heartclub' having the same approach as 'Mindreader' from Tekkno, where its subject material is slightly more serious than everything else present. Ultimately, 2 tracks could've been cut here (I'd go for 'Ratatata' and 'Still Waiting') and replaced with 2 tracks along the same vein as 'Heartclub' and 'Revery', and this album might've been better than Tekkno. Alas, as I kind of thought back when Tekkno dropped, I'm truthfully unsure if the style the band's using right now will work at all come their next record.
