A new peak for panopticon, and the most outwardly beautiful the project has sounded since and again into the light. Post
rock takes the forefront here and string led lengthy compositions are the order of the day. It all works exceptionally well.

Not many surprises, just your average Panopticon, not entirely devoid of good moments but routinely overloaded, badly produced and lacking highs.

Quite a roller coaster this one. Opener is impressive, but the second track is disappointing with its heroic guitar sound in the 2nd half. Blood and Fur Upon the Melting Snow has nice cleans and is really touching, while A Culture of Wilderness is the best song despite the violin being way too heavy in the mix. And then there?s the closer: awful sentimentalism with fake bird sounds. But even if these samples were real, they come from animals that are most probably dead by now.
