how does one follow an album as epic as sagas? one cant, and thus this awkward 'rekreated' album. every facet is essentially a chimera from the art to the title. gone is stang to be replaced with the lovable but much less talented robse, whose vox have an added effect to make them seem harsher than they really are to try to make up for it. thus this album is largely standard symphonic/folk fare with some harsher elements as callbacks, though fahrtwind ( ?? ?? ??) and wenn erdreich bricht are still masterpieces. the volkls would leave next, and one more attempt at a heavy folk album would be made in erdentempel, before the once great pieces of equilibrium were knocked right off their rocker. mindestens es ist alle auf deutsch! bonus acoustics are kind of fun esp blut im auge und heimwarts omg

Equilibrium may well have changed their lineup since the last album, but I have no complaints regarding their subsequent necessary accomodation/evolution. This album goes at a gallop when let loose! Fans of Finntroll and Ensiferum have much to enjoy here - very catchy melodies, great pace, and decent riffage. Der Wassermann and Aus Ferner Zeit would be good songs to start with. I love the single dog bark 6:40 in to the latter track. Insane!

The new album is, quite honestly, a bit disappointing. Basically it sounds like Sagas part 2 minus anything new. Needless to say it's still a thoroughly enjoyable album with plenty of frantic instrumental passages, though it feels a bit vapid at times, with fewer quiet moments than Sagas. Overall a decent release, but Equilibrium set the bar too high with their last album. I just hope this doesn't mean they're stuck in a rut.

Equilibrium haven't progressed much at all from Sagas but they have a formula that works well for them. If you take this album for what it is, cheesy, over the top, wanky viking metal, you'll have a hell of a time listening to it.

wtf, gay gay gay gay. nah it's not that bad...the epic parts off sagas have been thrown away and replaced with pseudo-symphonic bullshit that sometimes sounds good but mostly wanky. some parts make me cringe, some are pretty good tho...
