| 3.5 great | cjbizzlebizzle | May 15th 26 | Very exciting artsy synth-pop LP debut with very nice energy and really impressive depth in the production and instrumentals. Favorite moments on the album are the percussion and chill vibes on 'w-w-w-w-w' contrasting the intense vocals, the groovy chorus of 'moses', the upbeat drums on 'sever the blight' and the dramatic chorus of 'sense (is)'. I ask myself why isn't this a 4+ and it comes down to some of the vocals and the lyrics. The instrumentals and beats are all really awesome but sometimes the vocals come off as too quirky to be true and the lyrical themes just don't do much for me. At times it just feels too theatrical and that detracts from the fantastic songwriting and musical elements.
