'Gash' lands somewhere between alt rock, grunge and punk harkening back to the golden era of the 90s in those genres but sounding fresh and unique in its own right. One only needs to play 'I Got It' to get a great sense of what Qween Kong are up to. The vocals are a mix of melodic, playful singing and shouting and perhaps most important here is the prominent, raspy bass layered with a softly distorted guitar. The bass tone and actual bass lines are next level and take the driver seat for much of the experience. That is not to say the other instruments aren't as important but this bass centric mix creates a wonderful sound. Top notch moments are the chill verses transitioning to booming hook of 'Bad Dreamz', all of 'I Got It', and the hook of 'Better Off'. Hope these folks stick with it and keep honing in their sound.
