In my opinion, this album and URSA are the two greatest Novembre albums, both showcasing a
different side of their sound. Words of Indigo in particular though, is likely their most fully
realized magnum opus. After 9 Years and only one returning member, Novembre still managed to put
out a massive album with their signature sound that they have proven only they can create. The
proggy, abstract soundscapes and enigmatic song structures and arrangements are all present, but
are brought into clearer and more consistent focus than ever before. The material is largely up
to interpretation, causing the replay value to be immense, as repeated listens uncover new moods
amidst the oceans of beautiful melancholic emotion. I'll admit, aside from some glowing
exceptions, a lot of the material on The Blue and Materia doesn't grab me. URSA made the band
more mellow and accessible, with more readily digestible and more frequent hooks. Words of Indigo
pushes their one of a kind sound substantially further, while feeling more faithful to their
roots, and executed better than ever before. Total triumph of an album.

Can't believe it's been nearly a decade since these guys last released an album. Words of Indigo is another fantastic addition to Novembre's catalogue, it doesn't deviate from their signature sound but what they do they do it so damn well. The ann-mari edvardsen feature is a real treat for longtime fans too.

Like those 9 years were nothing! Novembre continues to deliver that sweet melancholy, accompanied with great riffs (congrats to the new guitarist), as expected.
