Yeah, this is definitely a Mayhem album. The sad truth is: Attila is still awesome, but looks like the rest of the band forgot that they should write something new, not just recycling older material. The production is alright, not as dynamic as expected.

Perhaps their worst material since the original mix of Grand Declaration of War, but still a serviceable record. As Gary and others have mentioned, it?s very much by-the-numbers Mayhem and suffers because of it. This is the same lineup that put out Esoteric Warfare which makes it even harder to see this as a worthy addition to their discography. I?ll take it over nothing at all, though

No one who I know (afaik) pretends these guys have anything worth listening to after Deathcrush, beyond a few live albums. So it's pointless to listen to this, but hey. Why not. And... it's boring. Aside from a fun concert, Mayhem as a whole is just a boring sound. There's plenty of BM bands with balls out riffs and theirs aren't besides a few.
