This is a great metalcore album by a once-black metal band. Cyclone and Stardust are
definitely a little gross. And for black metal to be used in this way... it leaves a certain
taste in the mouth. So I understand the slander. But it's simply executed too well, too many
legitimately delicious sections to act like its not good. And it's also too unique for
occupying the sonic space that it does. I can't think of another band that legitimately
sounds like this. If they go back in the other direction (toward black metal) next album,
I'll still be with them. If they continue in this direction, I'll 1.5 the next one lol.

This aint black metal, im a very confused bean right now. rGaerea is chasing the accsessible dragon, its fine for what it is but considering the rbands origins this is dissappointingrWtaf is LBRNTH. The closer Stardust is certainly a thing

I ache that metalcore these days is boiled down to attempts at clean sung choruses and mellowed
out stretches where nothing much is happening beyond dreamy guitar layers and the rendering of
generic lyrics by a competent-at-most vocalist (whose voice is often drenched in reverb and
compression for no good reason). Cus it seems to me that everyone calling this a "shift into
metalcore" is only counting Sleep Token as metalcore. Grinds my gears. It's that which I'm most
flustered about in regards to this album. I never expected this to be that much better than their
other albums, which are actually decent, good even. It's in fact a bit worse. But I'd go without
people comparing this to metalcore. It's blackened death metal - post-black metal, whatever -
with rock elements seemingly targeted at young impressionable audiences. Also, Cyclone and
Stardust are really campy, really lame songs. Just bad. But Submerged is one of their best songs
yet, imo.

To sum up this album in one word, accessible. Up until this point I have greatly enjoyed each
album, including their last album, Coma, which introduced other aspects than their
black/post-black origins. This album though, brings in (2010s era) in flames and sleep token.
Personally the cheesy chorus and autotune vocals is the exact opposite of what I was looking
for.

This album is not good. They?re clearly trying to go for a demographic of mainstream metal. I get it, bands have to grow and all that but how do you go from an epic album like Mirage to this crap?! Ewww.
