The Darkness revitalised the rock scene with their debut album Permission To Land. Period. However, their second album attracted a lot of criticism among fans. There are still lots of enjoyable riffs and lyrics, however it is easily understood that the band's formula is disposable. Recommendations: "One Way Ticket", "Bald", "Girlfriend", "Hazel Eyes"

The Darkness are great. This album is great. It contains great glam rock anthems and puts a smile on your face. Unlike the first album (which is still good) this album has a less serious feel to it and I just have fun listening to it. Too bad they broke up...shame really...

Well, this could probably have been much worse than it was, if nothing else. And yet, it was inevitable that the wheels would fall off the story of The Darkness sooner or later. The fun, the surprisingly mature songcraft, the commitment, the undeniable hooks, and the refreshing lack of irony that made Permission to Land a phenomenon are all but lost here, meaning that this has lost what could have made it special enough to survive in the '00s - it's now just a run-of-the-mill 80s metal album that's arrived two decades too late. "Is It Just Me" and "Hazel Eyes" offer brief highlights; yet, it's hardly surprising that the band has effectively fallen apart since this was released, having lost their two most interesting original members. This isn't bad, per se, but it did put a full stop on their career.

Having really enjoyed their debute album, I was very much anticipating the return of the Darkness. But the spangly catsuit waering rockers just flooped on this album. No really tracks actually offer anything to really sit up and listen to. Its just got average written all over it. Buy Permission to land over this any day.

The Darkness aren't a very deep band I think everyone knows that by now. They are more of just a fun band one that you can sit back turn on and just listen to catchy music. There is nothing special or new about them they are just doing something that other bands cannot and will never do, make a fun album. While they can be over the top and times and a whole lotta cheesy its times like the song "Hazel Eyes" when I start to think maybe just maybe the Darkness have potental to eventually churn out something more then just fun.

I believe in a thing called suck. Oh wait wrong Darkness album. Anyways, much like a few other albums in the abtss of my ratings, I had heard a bunch of talk of how this album was actually pretty good. So, when I listen to it, I first went "Huh, this still sucks pretty hardcore man." The vocals aren't what got me as much as the almost Jet-bad music ripoffs, with every song sounding like something out of the 70's or 80's. Honestly, The Darkness should go back to The Darkness. Mommy says she'll be me ice cream if she never has to hear them again.
