After an absolute classic in TDWOT Symphony X slightly simolify their formula. A dip in quality in my personal opinion as the wankery gets toned down, and tracks get more drawn out, ballady and powery. Big choruses and more mellow section take the place of heavier riffing and wankery, which just isn?t all my style. There is still a lot if good stuff to be found here tgough.

Quite good! I can't quite say this compares to Divine Wings, but it certainly seems to me that they still had some of the creative high they were on with that album, because, in my opinion at least, this is one of their best.

A great Symphony X album, albeit a bit underrated. Full of the usual stuff you'd expect from Symphony X, this has the great musicianship, the cheesy lyrics and the fantastic vocal performance. Sure, it's basically "Divine Wings... Part 2", but that's not necesserily a bad thing. "Smoke and Mirrors" is classic SYM X, as is "Church of the Machine". Unfortionatly, "Orion.." is really too cheesy for my liking and the rest of the album is only just above average.rTop 3 Tracks: "Smoke and Mirrors", "Church of the Machine", "Through the Looking Glass"

This album is that one album that no one gives a damn about. Good music, however doesn't really hold a candle to their other pieces of work, which rightfully deserve the attention they get.

Though the album doesn't maintain a consistent flow in quality or the musical styles used in each song, none of the tracks are anything worse than fair. And since most of the songs provide quality material regardless, namely in "Through the Looking Glass," it's definitely easy to enjoy this release as a whole.
