The Clash are one of my all-time favourite bands but by 1985 they were running on empty, and rwith Mick Jones and Topper Headon out of the group, a mess of an album was made,Cut The rCrap. The Clash's final album is watered down with no energy the band was known for. The rsound is way over-produced and the excessive use of electronics and drum machines makes for ra monotonous disco-punk sound, and the frequent use of the crowd chanting chorus' doesn't rhelp. However, there is a gem here in This Is England, the last decent Clash song. rThree Card Trick is worth a listen as well, but Cut The Crap is only for die rhard collectors.

Yeah this sounds like a swamp fart and I dont actually know what theyre ever trying to get at. Anthem punk is literally the most oxymoronic thing in music, and thats exactly what Im hearing. Not mind meltingly bad, just so nothing that I could and would listen to almost anything else.

Formerly one of the definitive British punk groups of the late 70s/early 80s, The Clash started to go profoundly downhill in their twilight years after the firing of Mick Jones and Topper Headon. Cut the Crap pretty much devalues the band's ethos as they now clash with disco and dance music. A truly awful mish-mash of two incompatible genres, this is up there with Oasis' Heathen Chemistry and the Manic Street Preachers' Lifeblood as one of the worst records by otherwise terrific artists. Not even worth adding to your collection even if you are a Clash devotee.

If only they had! 'Cut The Crap' has some of the worst production I have ever heard. 'This Is England', the Clash's last great song, is a tragically perfect fit that reflects upon the failures of British society....and possibly the band's realisation that they could never change the cultural decay.
