I See Stars do a good job of modernising their sound on "The Wheel". You can hear their mallxcore roots, and you can also hear the modern "octanecore" influence coming in too. It's a different album to "Treehouse". This one is way more energetic out the gate. It does feel like a fresh direction for them, and they've pretty much nailed a lot of it here, as far as I'm concerned.

Anomaly is a decent song but the rest of it seems meh to me. Luke Holland being on this record is a plus. Devin's voice is hit or miss for me.

It?s not the direction I was hoping?and I?m not a fan of the off-tune nu metal yelling?but they do a solid job with what
they?re trying to accomplish with this sound. And when he’s not yelling out of tune, Devin’s cleans/choruses are still
tremendous.
