| 4.0 excellent | Bedex | April 27th 25 | A very solid DOOMcore record which is probably slightly underrated but does falter in its middle. Not minding a few kinda cringe or disruptive skit sections as ever, this is a well flowing set of solid songs with catchy but not too glitchy crazy beats. 1-4 is all round solid, 5-7 and 9 are slight letdowns, then the rest of the album is pretty much all solid tracks again, including the two remixes tagged on at the end which do feel nicely included in the record and are both fun happy reworks of earlier tracks. Including them or not does not really change my rating to be honest, this is a nice round 4.0

| 4.0 excellent | encomium | April 8th 21 | I don't have much to say about The Mouse & the Mask except that it's pretty much as good as you can expect a DOOM album to be. People really overstate how annoying the Adult Swim references are because they really don't factor into DOOM's bars as much as they seem like they will (aside from A.T.H.F. of course...which is still a great song). I guess it helps that I grew up watching these shows but I'm sure that's true of a lot of people. Danger Mouse's production has nothing on DOOM's or Madlib's but hey, it's still one of the greatest rappers on a fine ass beat. Also, the feature list on here is insane - Talib Kwali, Cee-Lo Green, and Ghostface (and even Black Thought on a bonus track) and they all kill it. That hook on "Benzi Box" has to be one of the best hooks in DOOM's whole discography. This isn't quite S-tier DOOM but it's definitely A-tier for my money. Definitely recommend this one.

| 3.0 good | Britch2tiger | August 24th 15 | A hip-hop album that is truly meant for the 1st generation of [as] (i.e. Cartoon Network's Adult Swim segment) viewers. Personally a 3.5/5 for Danger Mouse's beats accompanied by MF Doom's lyrical creativity, but I'm aware of it's niche outreach. Most of the lyrics, samples, and surprise cameos will only be appreciated to the relative few who have been around long enough to have watched around the first to the fourth line-up (changes) of shows featured on the [as] segment such as those from Sealab: 2021, Space Ghost, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and several others. MF Doom is as impressive as ever, but at times the cameos can be intrusive, if not feel detached, from the songs featured. An enjoyable album for me, but likely just not for everyone...

| 0.0 | | August 15th 14 | I've misjudged hip hop for too long; then again, when you've got Lil Wayne, Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, and 2 Chainz running amok, can you really blame me? {shrugs} But when all's said is done, The Mouse and the Mask - the (so far) only album by collaborative project DangerDoom - is a nigh-stellar release. Underground artist MF DOOM's punchlines and flow deliver immensely, as do his sense of humor and interesting lyrics. While the samples found throughout the CD can be obnoxious and overriden by the Adult Swim flavor, this also adds to The Mouse and the Mask's funhouse-esque charm. Because of MF DOOM's energy, the songs presented are never dull nor inane.

| 4.5 superb | FearUs | May 22nd 11 | Despite what everyone says, I enjoyed this much more than Madvillainy.

| 0.0 | Bulldog | January 11th 10 | This is good, but DOOM's done better throughout his career, and even in his collaborative works (see, Madvillainy.) While most of the songs are good, there's nothing really epic, and the album isn't uber-cohesive, thus limiting it to only a 3.1/5

| 3.0 good | hydeyomoney | October 24th 09 | this isn't that good, but most of the songs work and sound pretty good. I don't get why people like "Benzie Box" though, and overall, DOOM has definitely more comfortable over the course of his career.

| 4.0 excellent | Masochist | May 2nd 08 | This is a joint effort between two people who are among the best at what they do. MF Doom spits rhymes that are smooth yet complex; Danger Mouse (famous as one/half of the duo known as Gnarls Barkley and prolific in his own right) is among the best producers/DJ in hip-hop today. Besides the magic that is guaranteed from a cooperation between those two, and besides the fact that the entire album is an homage to CN's Adult Swim programming block (full of name drops and cameos by the ATHF, Brak and Space Ghost, among others), this album is worth a listen because it makes for an excellent starting point to get into a gigantic underground/borderline-mainstream group of rappers, among whom are acclaimed MC's like Mos Def, Talib Kwali and Ghostface Killah, as well as lesser known artists like Asheru, The Black Lincolns, and Black Star. In case you aren't getting the message, you should listen to this album ASAP. As in right now.

| 4.5 superb | bigfave | November 26th 07 | This whole album is very good. The rhyming is stellar and the beats are great. The only downfall for the album is that it has too much to do with adult swim. This album has the standard groove of MF Doom all over it. He has his left-field metaphores and punchlines are funny and suprising. It's too bad this album won't see any radio play ever.
