Horrifically under-rated album, but it does have some flaws. It's aged like fine wine compared to an album like 4:13 Dream.

"Wild Mood Swings" is an apt title, as this record does suffer from an identity crisis. It is a bit of a meandering affair: moving from morose and gloomy to vibrant and poppy, then back again, never really committing to one particular theme. That being said, this is an album that got a much worse rap than it deserved and, in fact, contains a handful of my favorite Cure tracks. The album gets off to a slow start, which I think was part of it's problem, as things don't really start to pick up until track 4. But, man, once the first notes of The 13th kick in, we are presented with a rock block of songs that stand up to any of their other great tracks and really remain strong through the close of the album. If you passed over this album back when it was newer, do yourself a favor and give it another spin. Like me, you may find this album to be the hidden gem it truly is, not to mention a plethora of wonderful songs that went sadly underappreciated.

I've had this album for 9 year about, and I never really liked it, except for want, strange attraction mint car, and jupiter crash. Well I decided to listen to it in its entirety the other day, and I gotta say...I enjoyed most of the rest of it. It's that damned Club America song that kills it for most people. And even that song is growing on me. When you get past gone, some of the final tracks are classic moody cure music. I'm going to be listening to this for a while over the other cure records to make up for all the time I didn't spend with this record.

A really cheerful album for The Cure.rMy favorite album by The Cure would have to be either; The Head On The Door, Disintegration or Wish..rBut I find this album to almost keeps up with their earlier stuff.rI would recommend this album to anyone who loves to boogie to The Cure.. Great album in my opinion..

'Wild Mood Swings' is rather solid throughout and has a small cluster or gems, but, most markedly, it floats around in the air more than it touches ground. It doesn't have that crucial direction of either gloom/gothic territory or radio-freindly rock turf, that made earlier albums great. Essentially, it's a middle-of-the-road Cure album - far from terrible, but skipable for all but the devout and those wishing to get the complete picture about this seminal post-punk outfit.
