| 4.0 excellent | gordodustin | August 15th 25 | They're still experimenting, but there's some standout moments. I love the riffing for Karma Goddess and Part 2 is super catchy. I think Pete needs to ease up on the whiny vocals though, they're getting more obnoxious over time. Will likely adjust my vote later on.

| 3.5 great | hobblepot | June 3rd 25 | Album art is kinda poop ?
Singles slap so hard, and some of the other tracks do as well, but when this one falters it goes clunk. Weird choices
were made here. Production quality is impeccable though, and this is by no means a bad album at all, it’s just not up to
par with what the band are known for

| 2.5 average | BrushedRed | August 15th 25 | Might actually break the 3.8 trend (and not in a good way). I found this to be quite bland for their standards. I didn?t care for either single so already went into this with blah expectations and it was about what I expected. 2.5-3 at best. Hallucinations is pretty cool. And the last two songs are Chevelle being Chevelle but Blood Out in the Fields and the singles are borderline bad, in fact I?d call the former actually bad.

| 2.0 poor | pennyroyal22 | August 26th 25 | Chevelle in my opinion is at their best when they contrast pretty, atmospheric, emotion-rending harmonies with huge, intense, ugly ones. This album is more the speed of La Gargola and North Passage where they are pushing unrelenting momentum, churning guitars, and pounding drums without a lot of interest in things like dynamics or variety or memorability. Pete's high-pitched yowling and rambling lyrics don't lend the songs much of hook-factor and so what we're left with is an incessant noise floor and songs that lurch into existence and eventually kind of just sputter out rather than go anywhere interesting. I'm all for band evolution but not when it means the band is sloughing off so many elements that made them enjoyable in the first place.

| 4.0 excellent | MegaResurrectedJake4 | August 16th 25 | It?s true the first half is much better than the second and it?s also true that they never really let it go hook wise. A bunch of songs that were screaming for a huge hook, but somehow it still has more than enough. Pale Horse and Hallucinations both elite. Nice to hear the screams on Wolves. Great hook on rabbit hole. Blood out in the fields was super interesting as well even though it never dropped like it should?ve. Still probably the best and most consistent rock band in the world right now.

First half is a banger
Second half...man what a let down

| 3.0 good | Free Death #2 | August 15th 25 | When Muse outdoes Chevelle at their own game next year it is going to be hysterical. This just feels like the band doing
themselves in the least-potent way. Not to mention, Pete sounds pretty solid on the heavier parts, but then gets whiny
and pitchy in the lighter sections.

| 2.5 average | Aerialist | August 15th 25 | Something is really off putting about the vocal delivery this time around. Way better production than their last effort but
the whole album kinda blends into mush too. One of my least fav releases from Chevelle.

| 3.0 good | FrozenFirebug | August 14th 25 | A bit better than the last one, but not up to par with earlier output. Band's sonic depth
continues to suffer without a dedicated bassist. Otherwise, more of the same you'd expect from
Chevelle, with notab(ly questionable) vocal performances and lyricism. For example, when he
sang "I refuse to give in to cowards who don't even smoke crack" after being punched in the
balls, I felt that. Furthermore, I understand that Maynard James Keenan often sings from
multiple perspectives, sometimes sarcastically, and these guys LOVE aping Tool, but even
assuming the best, it's still sad listening to a 48 year old man go through the motions of an
adolescent apostate on certain tracks. 3.6 sonically, lowered to a 3.2 because I don't feel
like humoring it.

| 3.5 great | whitecastle142 | June 5th 25 | Chevelle is, bar none, the most 3.8 band ever assembled. Nobody, and I mean nobody, 3.8's harder than they do.
