| 4.5 superb | ShadowOfTheCitadel | August 1st 25 | Some of you are going to hate this one, but
it wouldn't be a KD album without defying
audience expectations anyhow.
It's funny that this album was talked about
as being a reunification of a lot of the crew
on Choirs of The Eye, because this album
shares a lot of sonic qualities with music
from it's sibling Dowsing Anemone With Copper
Tongue and Stained Glass.
It's very minimalistic and drone focused. I
think this is one of the most atmospheric
albums they've ever released, which makes the
more "structured" tracks hit like a truck.
Automatic Writing and Blind Creature of Slime
are an insane half hour of music.

| 4.0 excellent | Free Death #2 | August 2nd 25 | It feels like the people who rate this low only appreciate Kayo Dot at their most accessible. Blue Lambency Downward and Coyote are similarly textural and their respective rating averages reflect that (I'm old, I actually remember all the WIDELY split discourse on Coyote, which is excellent). This isn't an entirely new timbre for them at all, it's literally the same unit as Choirs, but it is exceptionally slow and stripped. It's an album focused on broad atmosphere that you have to sit with, and I think that makes it that much more potent when it comes together. This is my favorite release of theirs since Hubardo.

| 1.0 awful | RustCohle | August 1st 25 | The worst thing they ever released, it is not just almost unlistenable it IS unlistenable.
What a piece of junk...
How can this be the same guys that did Hubardo and Choirs of the Eye?

| 3.5 great | Comatorium. | August 2nd 25 | It ain?t the best thing they?ve ever done but these sub 2 ratings are laughable.

| 4.0 excellent | JJKeys | August 9th 25 | The unapologetic rejection of convention in 'Every Rock...' makes it one of Kayo Dot's most profound records. Each track demands your attention and has their own unmistakeable identity and sombre charm, even if some tracks are easier to digest than others (*cough* Mental Shed *cough* ). Kayo Dot and Toby Driver's artistic vision and execution in 'Every Rock...' is utterly spellbinding. I can't wait to experience this live.
