While the first half of the album ranks among the best black metal I've heard in the past
decade, the latter half drifts into more generic songwriting and becomes somewhat
forgettable, though still stronger than anything to come out of my native Norway recently,
perhaps with the exception of Brotthogg. PS: Props for making the interludes actually
enjoyable rather than mere placeholders, a rarity that hardly any BM band manages to pull
off.
