A good listen. I'll admit to that much. The sound is undeniably stale to me at this point though. A switch up is sorely needed.

These songs weren't that fun on the LAST record. There's zero subtlety or artistry here anymore, they've got a template that made them huge so they're a copy machine now. Garbage.

Thought the album should've ended at track 5. Too similar to previous releases and reliant on previously established song formulas. Sure, I know it's Lorna Shore song/album, but I'm never surprised anymore.

These songs all sound too similar. Death by repetition. It's well done other than the guitars (other than in breakdowns) and bass being buried in the mix, but nothing more than that.

Symphonic black metal is my least favorite form of the genre, so when Lorna Shore really lean into the melody and atmosphere on this album it kind of loses its punch for me. About half of these songs are great, namely the more aggressive ones where they dive into the black metal and deathcore, and away from the symphonic elements. The others are well written I suppose but not for me, kinda sounds like Lord of the Rings meets Stryper. rStandout tracks: Prison of Flesh, Oblivion, Death Can Take Me, War Machine, A Nameless Hymn. Album would have been a 4 for me if it was just these songs.rWillow Soundtrack: The rest of the songs.
