After listening a lot to this through the weekend I agree that this is too similar to GLOW ON to excel, but it's still a lot of fun and I love the atmospheric outros.

This... is okay. Pretty disappointing. Glow on craps all over this. Half the songs sound recycled and they lean way too hard into the atmospheric stuff. That's not an inherently bad thing but they put the focus there instead of writing better songs.

Sometimes it's hard to judge a band that's so hyped but...it's decent. It's not as good as everyone says but not as bad as the haters say either. Granted, I'm stuck on the first time hearing them and the first thing that jumped out in my mind was the vocals thinking "this guy is a Ray Cappo circa late 90s Shelter rip off"...which I still hear to this very day. That plus the ?80s nostalgia, annoying long outros, and similar melodies that could be heard of any Turnstile album equals a mostly enjoyable listen but one that fails to stand outr

This is a good entry into Turnstile's catalog. The singles were definitely the strongest songs from the tracklist. The first half of "LOOK OUT FOR ME" was probably my favorite song on here.
The record focuses too hard on creating "moments" that end up..not being memorable. I admire the attempts at integrating dreamy soundscapes but the execution doesn't really benefit the album. The pacing is annoying. Turnstile will build up songs only to kill the fervor with the interludes. At times, it feels like throwing a baseball up in the air but it never comes back down. A pesky reminder to the listener to "not forget that this record is different!"
Overall: strong production, great marketing, good ideas, "fine" execution.

I've listened to this a few times now. I've upped it to a 3.5. I think overall it's actually a pretty good album. I feel like they need to tone down the overproduced vocal. I know it's kind of their signature sound but that echo is just so far overdone it kills the record. I know it's an unrelated genre, but it reminds me of Cattle Decapitation's last one overdoing the cleans. Awesome in moderation but too much is overbearing.

I can't help but like this despite: the heavy lifting of riffs/ideas from the previous one; a potent lack of oomph; too many unnecessary ambient passages; a propensity to craft a "concert album" that I'm sure will go well through a live setting, with the aforementioned ambient passages concluding each track. On that last point: their formula was already tailored to the live, there really wasn't any need to further push that vibe. So yeah apart from all that i like this!!
