4.5 superb | PirateSquid | May 6th 10 | An intricate and more evolved progression for the band. Everything has improved, from the vocals that no longer use any type of studio enhancement whatsoever, to the varied instrumentation, to the much increased technicality, any fan of music should love this new As Cities Burn-esque evolution.
Though fans of Birth.Eater should not expect them to be metalcore-influenced at all, there are no harsh vocals at all on this album, and the droning vocals could be considered a tad repetititive, which are the two resounding flaws throughout the EP keeping it from being perfect.
The flaws are majorly overshadowed by the astounding improvements the band have made though. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

0.0 | LG | May 6th 10 | Oceana have decided to take a much more mellow approach on this release. While it has its flaws; vocals become very repetitive, It also has its achievements. The progression on here is astounding; from Post Hardcore to a more indie/rock influence. Though most will miss the harsh vocals from Birth.Eater, and become a tad irritated with the new direction, others will welcome the new sound. What this EP's purpose is to show that Oceana is not a one-trick pony and they're not satisfied with staying in a hole and producing the same record over and over again.

4.0 excellent | capes | September 27th 19 | Very strong 4 tracks. The vocals are very unique, along with the post-hardcore influenced songwriting. I'd love to hear a whole album like this, but what's here is good enough.

4.0 excellent | iGuter | March 8th 12 | A nostalgic, experimental mess that I use in the most positive sense. Though it is a huge leap from their last album's deep and indie core sound; it's a risk that is amazing. Mixing indie and garage rock with a Bright Eyes tone, it's truly a wonder to behold.

4.5 superb | robsabassist | June 10th 10 | This is the exact opposite of what I was expecting, and even though I loved their post-harcore/metalcore style, I still consider this an amazing EP.
The vocals are so much better, they were so over produced on the Tide that it made it almost hard to listen to, but all of that is gone.
The instrumentals are more intricate and tech, overall an excellent release.

4.0 excellent | JohnW | June 2nd 10 | This band finally gives us a sound that is all their own, rather than sounding like every
other -core act out there. It sounds real, stripped down and fresh. The vocals get a tad
repetitive, but otherwise, it's a very powerful EP.

2.5 average | smiff0009 | May 13th 10 | I like the genre change, but this album could be much improved. Blue seems like a mess of awkward rhythm changes, and is not memorable by any means. Barracuda is much better, with cool percussion parts, and a great evolution throughout the song. This ep has a cool overall sound to it, but they need to find a way to keep things creative, but catchy at the same time.

4.0 excellent | hykinix | May 10th 10 | Looking at this in comparison to previous efforts of the band is going to cause some disappointment, given the complete genre change. I've found that looking at new releases through a lens of comparison to old releases isn't the best way to approach music. So, taking this for what it is, I can definitely appreciate the new direction.

0.0 | Carnifex | May 6th 10 | What trash, nice job to completely sell out to all your fans with this pansy indie rock bullshit. Good to know these guys warned me with this EP, rather than me finding out with an equally trashy full-length containing three times as many tracks. Won't be listening to future efforts if it's anything like this. Fans of indie rock? Check this out asap. Fans of Oceana? Avoid this like the plague.

2.0 poor | Vampolka | May 6th 10 | This is... miserable. The genre change is too dramatic. If you dig the new sound, good for you. But this is not what most fans of the band would want or expect. I appreciate the progression and experimentation, but overall it's not a great listen, or even catchy. Thank god this is just an EP, but I hope they go back to their original roots when or if they release another full length.
