Raintime?s sophomore album was quite an interesting blend of Power Metal and Melodic Death, giving them a very distinctive sound and giving something to like for fans of both genres. The band has since changed their sound and has almost completely ditched the Death influences, resulting in a more generic sounding Power Metal album.rThat is not necessarily a bad thing though; all the ingredients to make a Power album are present. Swirling riffs, fast solos and keyboard melodies are all here and work well. Coassin does a good job with the vocals, although on a couple of occasions he uses a kind of Metalcore like shout, which in its own are not bad ,but does not really complement the song.rPsychromatic is an upbeat and almost uplifting experience and flows well as whole. Although it is a good Power Metal effort, it lacks the character that Flies and Lies had, but there are still plenty here for any Power Metal fan to enjoy.
