1.5 very poor | PickleVai17 | March 21st 25 | Gotta say, the single sucks fat dick. Instrumentals are ok I guess, but as usual, it's completely ruined by Robbs god awful vocals and cringe lyrics. Bummer

2.0 poor | Robert Garland STAFF | April 26th 25 | I wasn't really expecting a lot coming from Flynn and co. but damn this is beyond uninspiring stuff.

2.5 average | TrephineArtist | May 10th 25 | I'm disappointed with this album, the last one was surprisingly decent but in truth I haven't been totally on board with Machine Head albums since The Blackening (even though I don't get the hype about the song 'Halo'). However each subsequent release has had some gems, even if just one or two, sometimes three or four. Of Kingdom & Crown sounded surprisingly focused, incredibly well produced and seemed to bring something a little different but with all the trademark MH signatures (pinch harmonics and brooding breakdowns). rI'm a big fan of Robb & co, can't really hate anything he/they do but...well actually yes I can 'These scars won't define us' is just Hellishly cheesy and the love is just a loaded gun line on 'Bonescraper' come on Robb WTF??? That song & 'Outsider' not only contain some of the cheesiest choruses of the year but the songs even open with them. I think he just wasn't sure of the direction to take on this album. rThe only track I expect I'll be revisiting and adding to playlists is 'Bleeding me dry' (even if some of the lyrics seem a little trite), I'm not sure how Jared's comical 'death growls' got the green light though (please no more of this Robb!). Even so it's a great track, perhaps it shouldn't work combining trademark MH riffs and chugging with pop sensibilities but somehow it does. I really hope the next album is back on track as I admittedly do love this band. A generous 5.5/10 (would sadly be a 2/10 if not for Bleeding me dry).

2.5 average | chupapoto321 | April 24th 25 | Robb's harsh vocals seems particularly uninspired on this record, man's voice sounds tired. His cleans are alright. Riffage is alright, but it sounds like Machine Head going through the motions. This sounds exactly as the least inspired cuts from last album without any of the Choke on the Ashes of your Hates or Become the Firestorms. There's a bit of hope at the end of the album as both Bleeding Me Dry and Shards of Shattered Dreams are probably the best cuts in the album, the first one being a bit more daring and trying some dissonance and electronic elements while the second one is a traditional ball stromper groove cut but feeling way more energized than the rest of the album. Still, none of these reaches the highs of Of Kingdom and Crown and there's A LOT more filler here than there was in that album.
