A painful band to listen to. Shaggy scooby doo whiny vocals chaotic mathcore instrumentals. Truly like nails on a chalkboard. The attempts at some catchiness aren't able to sell me whatsoever, but nice try I guess.

Mathcore refuses to evolve. This album has the chaotic songwriting and production decisions of Ire Works era TDEP without any sense of purpose or originality. Eclectic songwriting can work but this album feels artificial in its chaos. The sampling adds little to the album and 57 mins is way too long for generic 2010s djent chugs and the blandest metalcore vocals. The riffing sounds like what fronterier already did years ago

Almost didn't make it through the selfsuck that was the intro track. Exotic Animal Petting Zoo was doing this sound 15 years ago with 100% better songwriting and 100% less pretentiousness. Theater kid ass band.

The Callous Daoboys remain reliably unhinged on I Don't Want to See You in Heaven, but the chaos feels, to me, less inspired this time around. The album's second half shows more restraint and reward, with climaxes that feel earned - even if they take their sweet time like that overlong closer (see last year's "Bodega Head" from State Faults for a great front-to-back long closer). Overall, Heaven feels more like a collection of cool ideas than a compelling whole - and it kinda sucks since it's an hour long. There are flashes of brilliance - the closing track's final minutes among them - but the record too often feels like it's running in place, rather than breaking new ground. Cool shi, but not the leap forward it could've been.
