They always sucked with or without isaac. Band cant even get nick cave fans to like them. This new album was sent to me early and i got through it but now i have to go listen to 50 hours of good music to feel better. Thanks for nothing but awfullness, again!

This is the weakest bunch of material I?ve heard since Arcade Fire did Everything Now. Grating, silly, nonsensical. Like a soundtrack for Weenie Hut Juniors. Should?ve been called Sunny Sunshine?s Magic Unicorn Club or something. Time to rebrand, guys. I turned it off halfway through Mary. I couldn?t take another second of torture.

There are some great moments scattered around here (mostly when it fucking kicks on "Two Horses" or "Nancy"), but as papa Dewi rightfully said, they just can't stop singing, and that doesn't leave any room for the instrumentals to breathe. Also idk the soundscape sounds quite thin, these songs need to be way bigger than they are.

Please rename this project. Literally doesn't resemble the original sound of BCNR in the slightest bit with nearly an hour of questionably jumbled and samey run of the windmill proggy pop rock. The first 30 seconds are kinda fun but once that ends its a tough listen.

Site ate my review as I posted it, lovely. But yeah, the hate this record is getting is a bit overblown. The change in direction while keeping the BCNR name gains understandable confusion, but the scorn is ridiculous when most of the band remains the same. On the record itself, most of the tracks are good with Cold Country and Nancy beings the highlights but the production feels way too clean at times and the weaker songs, like Mary and the title track, have no balance between vocals and instrumentals and should've been cut. Hell cut the 3 weakest tracks and this record could've gone into a 4/5 territory for me. There is potential here, but they should change the bands name if they want to stay poppier and baroque-ier cause it'll just make the hardcore fans equate BCNR as the next Mercury Rev in terms of direction shift-related anger.
