This album genuinely rocks. Not sure what the fuck to make of having to explain to my wife why I'm dancing to new Lady Gaga songs in the kitchen in 2025.

A bit overlong perhaps but probably her most focused album since Born This Way, despite the highlights here not standing up to the best tracks there.

Even though this contains "Gaga moments I will never be able to appreciate" like that "Abracadabra" chorus as well some bewildering choices (that Swift cosplay), this is the most fun Gaga has been in about 15 years for that first half only that second half features mostly repetitive songs

Zombieboy is the most outrageously fun thing she's done since Donatella. Mayhem jumps all over the place wrt its influences and sounds and since Gaga draws a few of these references from her own past but doesn't lock into any one for more than a song or two, it ends up feeling like a step forward rather than a victory lap. Mayhem's throughline is not a sonic or textural one but rather the feeling that taken together, the songs spell out Lady Gaga. So pleasantly surprised! Have been spinning nonstop since Friday.

There?s a lot of the staple Gaga stuff here that I am never going to be able to fan of, mainly stuff like the hook in Abracadabra. But the production, and general strength in songwriting is at least admirable. I can see the appeal, and I can see that this is an inspired, well written record, just not my taste

This album is so frontloaded .. Like 1-7 are all bangers that exhibit her different influences and interesting production, but the second half songs (beside Shadow of a Man) are so boring it litterally drag the whole thing down a lot. It is a shame because i thought it was her best since TFM

Influences worn on her sleeve for the first time in a looooooooong time. Mayhem has been brewing for awhile, and this release feels like a cathartic montage of influences (I hear Bowie, Courtney Love, Michael Jackson, even Swift) through the lens of - let's be real - an absolute rockstar. That said this is a much funkier album than I think anyone could've predicted. Killah threw me for a loop. 3.8/5
