This is my first review :D
Anyway, Soulfly was created when the front-man/guitarist of Aepultura left the band because of personal problems, For each album he hires different musicians to rock out with him (:
In my opinion this is the best soulfly album released so far, This album actually balances out the metal and the tribals instead of having one dominate the other, He's my track-by-track review
Downstroy:
This song starts out with complete silence then...BAM!
A simple riff balances out with decent drumming
The tribal drumming at the end makes out a great beat
One of the heaviest songs on the album, and probably the best lyrics on the album.
7/10
Seek 'N' strike:
A catchy song with pretty awesome vocals from max
The song suffers from poor song writing more than any other song on the album, which takes down its rating.
8/10
Enterfaith:
NOOOOOOOOOO!
Is probably the first thing you will hear, As it will scare the living **** out of you, trust me
The verses have energy that will never be topped by any other band without sounding like suffering from A.D.D. Max even sorta sings during the chorus, Which has never been done before, A minute of laughable stupid screaming to end the song takes down the rating by a point
9/10
One:
This is no doubt the best song on the album
The singing from the frontman of ill nino with max's metal screaming + tribal drumming as a prechorus = An epic song, Wouldn't it be great if both of the singers formed a band.
10/10
L.O.T.M.:
The intro has to be the greatest intro...ever, but the song is quickly ruined by the generic verse and pointless chorus, PHAIL
4/10
Brasil:
Pointless, much?
4/10
Tree of Pain:
Points to max for thinking up such a creative song! The song starts out with a good beat played along with a woman's singing. Then the song pauses for a second and this happens:
AGAIN!
UNDER A TREE OF PAIN!
WHERE WE CARVED OUR NAMES!
FOREVER TO REMAIN!
The song goes on with extreme heaviness for a minute or two, then, the worst thing ever happens, Max's cousin sings with the song, His voice is all wierd and he sounds like he should be in a bad punk band, Then the song ends again with the great singing. Good song, except for that one part...
8/10
One Nation:
Starts put with children singing the pledge of allegiance then a catchy riff comes up will max shouting along with it, Then the tempo changes and then for the chorus a guy that sounds like serj tankian talks, which sounds really cool. A decent song
6/10
9-11-01:
Silence, but for a good reason
10/10
Call to arms:
Super fast paced and Super heavy at only 1:23 long, Seems to have a grindcore influence, The song is creative at least.
7/10
Four Elements:
As soon as you think the pace would drop down a little, it gets faster, and really pissed off, The song seemingly has no start or end, or middle for the matter, But it sounds so awesome so who cares? The only downfall is the song is 4:22 long but the song is mostly just tribals from 1:50 and on.
9/10
Soufly III:
Relaxing, In a boring way
5/10
Gangue de Barrio:
Weirdness to the maximum, A strange vocal effect is on max's voice, Screaming in Portuguese, And a thrash-like riff
6/10
Zumbi:
Bore-fest
2/10
Great Album:
Best Tracks are Downstroy, Enterfaith, One, and four elements
