Japanese Breakfast's new album is lovely and full of lush soundscapes, but it also sounds a tad too light songwriting-wise

It should be obvious from the album name that the sound will be a bit of a departure from the wonderful 'Jubilee' and indeed things do shift to the melancholy here. This isnt necessarily an issue but it also feels like the albun lacks a signature song to define the sound Japanese Breakfast is going for here. It feels like a collection of good but never overly memorable songs that are generally on the somber side of the aisle. A great stretch between Honey Water and Little Girl with Picture Window also being a highlight.

Bland and repetitive. Not a grower. 'Honey Water' is the only song that feels connected to the sound Japanese Breakfast has mastered in the past.
