While its not as meticulously arranged as their prog classics, Counterparts is one of the bands most mature and impactful records. This is the one I come back to the most, and I truly consider it my favorite of their discography, in spite of objectivity and the cultural impact of their other works. It has a great blend of adult alternative sounds, and a hard rock grit that gives the album a real bite in some tracks. The lyrics are thoughtful and even touching, and I find myself lost in every track. The opening is one of the best openers the band ever did.

Counterparts is one of the heaviest Rush albums with songs like Animate, Stick It Out, and Double Agent perfectly driving home that point. As always, the lyrics are good too especially on Animate, the depressing Nobody's Hero, and Everyday Glory.

Probably the best offering from Rush's current alternative/rock phase, this was also pretty much the first, as Roll the Bones still possessed some of the elements from 80's era Rush. Counterparts is a solid outing by the trio, with a myriad of great tracks a few good, there isn't much to disappoint here.

I am a huge Rush fan and feel this is right up there with their classic early offerings. It has great songs and I do like the heavier sound plus the fact that it is guitar driven as opposed to synth driven.

Ok, now I'm a great Rush fan, have been one for 10 years and I love all their albums, except maybe Vapour Trails which is probably their most dislkiked album.
Anyway, Counterparts is in my top 3 Rush albums and probably at number 2.
I love the era that counterparts is in, it's with Test For Echo whcih as an album is better but the individual songs aren't as good, where with Counterparts, it's got some awsome songs!

One of Rush's better albums in my opinion, yet very underrated. This album has great songs with a different, heavier sound not heard from Rush in awhile. This new fusion made the whole album have an unexpected cool sound to it.
