The more I kept searching and waiting for something deeper, the more superficial, averagely catchy and forgettable it sounded.

A bit darker than their other synthpoppy affairs, Liminal Animals nevertheless doesn't really need to exist - Ulver is the kind of band that accustomed us with surprising new albums, and this one is all but surprising.

I like this much more than Flowers, all the easy-going groovy pop tracks have much stronger vibe and more experimental stuff like both Nocturnes is killer. Still doesn't feel as essential as other eras of the almighty Wolves, but it's close this time.

In terms of quality compared to their last two pop-focused albums, this one is definitely an improvement over Flowers but still doesn't manage to hit the peaks of Julius Caeser.

I really dont like that every song was
released as a single and that the final track
is 10 minutes of disappointment however each
track prior is pretty good. If you like Ulver
in their pop era then you will likely enjoy
this album. Im probably being generous with my
rating.

Liminal Animals is more like an Alternative Rock or Electronic Rock in their own way, in
2024. Even though, the last track Helian was like listening to Recoil's monologue song for
10 minutes (Recoil's Subhuman). I'm not sure how I feel about that song, but it could work
for a noir movie or video game. I like it, though. I hope Kris Rigg is content with the
final result of the album. I personally prefer Hexahedron as my
subjective fave album of Ulver. The songs I like are Ghost Entry, Hollywood Babylon and
Nocturne #1.
