One can most certainly get some enjoyment out of this band's first album Fungus Amongus - on a few of the CD's tracks. It's abundantly clear that the fellows at Incubus were talented for their age range, yet not enough to seek their very own identity.

fungus amongus is a superb album when it comes right down to something that makes you want to get up and dance or sing or just move. there's something in the funk and rap that entertwines with the rock and superb bass work. the vocals are, of course, wel suited to the music and Brandon's range makes him a separate instrument. the album is, odd, in a word. but the perfect kind of odd that gives a band a lot of dedicated fans. this is the soundtrack to vaste, pulsing amounts of humanity moving together.

Kinda unerrated album. Incubus were Mr. Bungle wannabes back then, but they nailed it. This is
funk/nu metal at its best. Nice riffs and amazing bass lines and solos, packed with a lot of
energy. rFavourite tracks: Speak Free, Hilikus, Psychopsilocybin

While I do have a bit of a soft spot for early Incubus, it's clear that they're taking a lot of influences from other bands to create their sound. I might highly enjoy this album, but to other listeners it may feel as if the band doesn't know exactly who they are or what they really want to become.

The most inaccessible and difficult Incubus album in their catalog by far. Only with repeated listens would you actually enjoy this album at all, even if S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was your first Incubus album you listened to. While I still occasionally enjoy listening to this album, it just isn't as good as what would follow.
