2.0 poor | DarkNoctus | January 25th 25 | i could understand someone having the reaction of "wow, this is cool!" if you've never heard this band before but for anyone who's been paying attention i struggle to see how anyone could be excited for what is essentially the same album four times in a row. same production, exact same songwriting tricks (simple melody and then a simple melody with a double bass pedal beneath it and dropping out the vocals in every song... wow! exciting!), same themes... they try to substitute this by having an 'all star cast' of popular black metal musicians featuring in songs but it is really clear none of these songs are written for them and they're just fit in where it's convenient. the definition of trendsters.

4.0 excellent | CureriosityBlossom | January 24th 25 | Vocal emotional delivery and vocal harmonies summum there identity and what most metal band failed to display which in my mind remain one of the greatest display a band could hope to achieved to remain vital to the dynamic of their soundscape and body of work as a whole. For any music genre by the way. MIKAEL STANNE POETIC ASSEMBLE OF WORDS AND THEATRICAL DELIVRANCE. Lately Hath singer comes to mind so rarely seen in just a death metal band without sacrificing any of there brutallity the performance vocally alone brings the pain and sorrow feel to there sound which is quite awesome. Been a while no news from them hope they give some excellent one very soon.

4.0 excellent | Tundra | January 24th 25 | Harakiri for the Sky is an excellent band, and it remains to be true on "Scorched Earth." What really sets them apart is their knack for creating super coherent song arrangments. A lot of atmospheric and post-black metal can get a bit lost, but here, there's always a catchy melody that pulls you in. It also brings to mind some atmospheric melodic death metal bands like Insomnium. Plus, the clear delivery of the lyrics makes it easier to connect emotionally with the music.

3.0 good | Shogun | February 4th 25 | I enjoy HFTS a lot but again there is simply not enough ideas to justify the length of the songs. They write excellent riffs but run them into the ground over the course of 9 - 10 minutes. Someone mentioned the features being the stand outs but once again they add very little. I recall Neige from Alcest being on the last record and it was the most wasteful and pointless feature ever, and here it is much the same bar the cover song.

4.5 superb | resident sadbitch | February 3rd 25 | This is their best since Trauma. The song titles alone tell you what you're in for, but this is really doing it for me.
