2.5 average | aaronrkc | October 28th 24 | On first listen, I feel fairly confident in saying this is Tyler's least rewarding full-length. It felt mostly like 50 minutes of him having a crisis over potentially becoming a father. The melody/synths on "Balloon" are nice, the features on "Sticky" are all great; "Thought I Was Dead" is the most solid track overall probably. Not every album can be a hit and that's fine. Still one of my favorite artists who went on a crazy streak of great albums and is more than capable of bouncing back from this one.

3.0 good | Zeiu | October 28th 24 | Kinda mid. Not sure what the intention was with the Chromakopia concept.. Will listen to this once or twice again, but this really didn't get to me the way the last two albums did. Hopefully it's a grower..
Standouts:
Rah Tah Tah
Balloon
Sticky.. Kind of?
St. Chroma - THEY CUT THIS SHORT. Why didn't it continue?

4.5 superb | gryndstone | October 28th 24 | Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself.
-Charli XCX and Tyler, The Creator this year, for some reason

“It felt mostly like 50 minutes of him having a crisis over potentially becoming a father.“
that’s a really great topic for an album. way more relatable than his break up album

3.5 great | migueldemolina | October 28th 24 | Flower boy was the perfect balance between hip-hop and melodical emotional tracks. Tracks like garden shed are incredible, but
the way Tyler slots them into that record just elevates them further.
One first listen this has the same quality. Feels very close to the way flower boy felt and also the singles actually sound much
better when played in the context of the album, because those songs kinda had me worried.
Clear standouts are rah tah tah (who dat boy ver2.0), sticky (track is funny as fuck, sexyy red actually feels weirdly
appropriate here), tomorrow and balloon(why this shit works i have no idea but it does).

3.0 good | lz41 | November 7th 24 | The prettier, the more insecure and the more vulnerable "Chromakopia" becomes, the better. Which, I suspect, is not what Tyler meant given how hard the album leads with its chin in its early tracks.

and disposable.

4.0 excellent | BillyBrill | November 2nd 24 | At some point, regardless of the strengths of individual songs, I am struggling to feel fondly towards the complete tonal
whiplash that is so prevalent it MUST have a purpose. The songs themselves are so strong. Like Him is sheerly powerful,
Thought I Was Dead is my favourite song since Gone Gone / Thank You, Balloon has some gorgeous instrumentation,
and I really can go on. But Judge Judy just makes me think like? why include this? He goes on to reprimand himself on
the beautiful Take Your Mask Off, but then why include the somehow more tasteless version of Darling Nikki? Sticky and
Hey Jane get the message across FINE! And theyre both actually good! Anyway, I ramble on. The strength of the
individual tracks is possibly his greatest showing to date, with one glaring exception, but as a conceptual whole (which
Tyler has always had a great knack for), it somehow falls flatter. Still better than cmiygl, but 3rd best of his last four, and
I dont see it rising those ranks, though I do expect my opinion to grow on more relistens

3.2 good | Erwann S. STAFF | October 29th 24 | Tyler's least engaging record still features its fair share of cool soundscapes (mostly synthy psychy soul) and more introspection than ever before from him, but the bulk of this sounds like a lesser version of what he did on either Flower Boy (eg "I Killed You") or IGOR (among others, "Darling, I" or "Judge Judy").
