4.5 superb | Vlexis | October 6th 24 | Excellent new excursion for Asthgul, while still maintaining his core musical identity. Clean
singing might not be his technical forte as much as his trademark snarls and growls and screams,
and instrumental musicianship, but I found it delightful to hear him try something outside his
standard approach, and thought it added to the eerie atmosphere to the album. The harsh vox are
still there and sound as filthy as ever-- and I really enjoyed them paired with some of the less
heavy, more atmospheric soundscapes this album explores. I think my only gripe is I don't love
some of the production on this album. Nonetheless, this is certainly amongst my favorite albums
he's done, and I look forward to seeing what he does next.

2.5 average | metalphil | September 29th 24 | I gotta be honest, I was pretty hyped for this one but it was a bit of painful listen. Like the other review mentioned, the clean singing is definitely not this dude's strongest element and there is a lot of it to be found here.
I actually think if he slightly adjusted his delivery / cadence, and maybe toned down some of the effects on the cleans, they could be a lot better.
It's also just a more mellow release relative to his other stuff and the heavier side is where I think this project really shines most of the time. So overall this was a pretty big dud for me.

3.0 good | Gary STAFF | September 26th 24 | The 12-string guitar is a great new element, and the very ambient "Zilthuryth (Void of Zeraphaël)" was another brilliant song (definitely the highlight)...but altogether it was a bit eh. Ashtagul's singing is... not really great, tbh.
