Very-very disappointed. "Piros Kocsi, Fekete j" and the title-track are super-super awesome, but the rest is... either way too "modernish" for my ears ("Mindenev?" or "Alhulls"), or simply way-too-out-of-place... why the hell is "Lydihoz" on this album? I don't get this Balkan music in the concept or style for this album at all. The lyrics are however very-very pretty, but altogether the album was my biggest disappointment.

I'm quite a Thy Catafalque sceptic and even I just admit that the bulk of this was stellar. I am still not the biggest fan of their grungy production that often works against the plethora of instruments they bring in as a feature, and the runtime as always is worthy of a trim, but the song-writing is their tightest in years and the crescendos do make me just the healthy nibble teary eyed.

Truth be told, last year's album, Alfld, was a bit of a disappointment to me, while it went for a more straight forward approach, I missed the eccentricities of the band. XII.... returns to this amongst a large list of guests that take the album through black metal, hungarian folk, psychedelic synth rock in way that it could be separate distinct albums but still works together as a whole
