Nah mate. Way too mid for way too long. PdH continues to take a slower, doomer approach, with zero fast blasty bursts to be found. That's okay, and can be quite cool, giving a suffocating impression of dying out slowly in the snow, which as someone said would be extra fitting if this is indeed an end of discog. 1 struggles a bit to kick things off, but 2 is quite successful at crafting that oppressive atmosphere, and is perhaps the best track on here. It feels like being trapped under the avalanche. Mind you, by the end of it we're already at the 33min mark. Then the Transzendenz trilogy is frankly a bore all the way through, save for the finale of III, which is actually really cool and atmospheric, and would have been a good way to end the album. 1hr 7 minutes. 6 is kind of okay, but by that point I keep on wondering why the album keeps going. It ends, and still 17min to go. 7 has some of the most distinct and cool riffage here, and despite a few more awkward sections, at least it is recognisable instead of being a wall of slow bm that would have been entirely ignored by most of us were it not from such a legendary artist. Then, to add insult to injury, it ends on a fadeout, badly camouflaged by some wind samples that end abruptly. Doubt I'll ever listen to this in full again. 2.6

After a couple of listens, I'll anchor at a 3.5 rating. This is... great, but not as great as the two other albums from the LP-era. It works well in the a background when you catch a riff or two, but in general, this doesn't cut that deep. I liked the latest Darkspace lot-lot more.

It's great and all but unironically this sound requires absolute lofi commitment and even the slightest clarity added to this kind of undermines its power.

As expected, Die Berge summons the iciest depths of black metal with a blizzard-like intensity. The soundscapes are dense and relentless, with the occasional eerily beautiful passage shimmering through the frost. Nothing groundbreaking or even as amazingly well-done as was Im Wald, but nevertheless a good return to form.
