this is very good because peggy is growing not just as a producer but now as a lyricist, the chronically online verses are there but now he takes a look in the mirror a bit towards the end and it is very nice

LOVE the hitters on this album but like the entire last third of the album is a bit of a snoozer. It also is becoming increasingly laughable when an artist writes a little self-aware candid ?offscreen? talk with the producer or themselves or whatever. Really hating that, especially after a mediocre songs where you list your problems with a flow that I would come up with. First half is fire, and falls off slowly. Still worth listening to

Honestly, it was a letdown, but it was inevitable and the quality drop had to occur eventually when you have a consistently astonishing three-album run (excluded Veteran cuz I didn't vibe with
it that much). Still, a decent JPEG trademark fun wackiness is present, it's just far from his last three albums

Peggy embraces his rock influences - good for him! Can't say it's always a home run though: beats aren't as crazy as we could have expected - especially given last year's Scaring the Hoes - and his rapping performance hasn't really improved either.

I am one of the few people who did not find the last solo album from Peggy to be all that memorable in the greater ethos of JPEGMAFIA?s music. However on his new album ?I Lay Down My Life for You? we see Peggy grow into the punky and angry rapper many of us have wanted to see from him. Every track on here sees Peggy shouting and yelling at every turn. But don?t get it twisted we also get that classic Peggy flow. But what really puts this album over the top is the interesting and innovative use of rock and metal guitar/drum melodies. Definitely an intense and fun style for Peggy to play with.
