With Cool World, Chat Pile refines their heavy, industrial rock sound, delivering a more focused and cohesive record than God's Country - although that comes at the expense of no track surpassing their debut opener, even though "Masc" comes suuuuuuper close. The relentless energy is still there, but this time it feels more deliberate, with sharper songwriting and a deeper sense of atmosphere. They understood how to balance their chaotic intensity with moments of eerie calm, making the heavier parts hit even harder.

Chat Pile once again creates one of the most forward thinking sludge metal records to date. The use of noise rock really brings to life the sludgy and slow metal style the band is known for. Everything sounds like it was recorded from a garage way back in the 90s; in the very best way possible. Chat Pile has a really strong ability to get you hooked with their instrumentals and then staying because of their heady lyrics on wealth and politics. Definitely give this a try if you like some rough and grimy metal music.
