It's genuinely a banger. Beats, flow and lyricism. No choppy corny modern flow, either, much smoother this time. A pleasant listen. I will give this 10 spins, but at WORST it's a 4, see where I land.

Controversy and relevance have gone hand in hand throughout Eminem's career. Now he is just a nostalgia act desperately hoping that a Guardian op-ed columnist will make like Lynne Cheney and get outraged at his R Kelly jokes.

Eminem's lyrics and style are still as strong as ever on "The Death of Slim Shady", and the overall idea of the album seemingly acting as 'one song' divided up into parts works for this time around. Guests featured such as Skylar Grey and Jelly Roll do add some needed melodic moments within the album, and there's even amusement to be had in songs like 'Houdini' and 'Habits'. Admittedly, I don't listen to this genre enough to really give a fair take or ask for more or less from the material here, the best I can offer is purely how it works on a presentation level, and what we're given is 'good'. Not as strong as some of his prior albums, but certainly not weaker than others either.
