| 3.8 excellent | Voivod STAFF | January 2nd 25 | Having burned Written In Waters on my mind, soul and body time and again, I can say with some certainty that Mørkdrøm is one of the closest tokens to Ved Buens Ende's seminal release. The first thing that draws the comparison, is doom-laden rhythm section, along with the bitter/lofi guitars and the nonlinear arrangements. That's not to say that Røkkr are merely plagiarizing; in their venture towards lofi black metal the Danish way, they are not as technical and abstract. The nostalgic acoustic guitar parts, the pure ambient segments, and some ritual invocations, everything comes from the band's own personality. Album is recommended, and the band is for sure, one to pay attention to. Stream: http://kolbitrdk.bandcamp.com/album/m-rkdr-m
