This is a decent thrash record but lacks the dark atmosphere of previous albums. And what's up with the drum sound

Considering the quality of Testament?s two previous releases, this was hugwly disappointing. Yes, a good thrash album with good moments, but Skol?s amazing shredding while still present is much less so. The production is nice, but the rawness, precise aggression and pure speed is very much turned down from previous efforts.

Practice What You Preach was their most straightforward and successful record of the '80s. Possibly their "commercial" peak? Most of the songs aren't too fast (but there's still some speedy parts) but that's okay because the songwriting is mostly excellent and often quite catchy.

Absolutely Amazing from Start to Finish! Very underrated band, though their releasing great albums now a days too. like "The Gathering" and "Formation Of Damnation", and working on another "The Dark Roots Of Earth" Can't wait for it!

Practice is an absolute Bay Area classic. The previous is better sure but this record is filled with excellent songs like the title track, Envy Life, Greenhouse Effect and specially Sins of Omission.

Testament settle down from their stellar debut and sophomore effort on Practice What Your Preach. There's still a good amount of thrash metal to keep listenings banging away, but it doesn't feel nearly as abundant as it could be. Energy and completely hard-hitting moments aren't nearly as plentiful either, but this isn't to say the album is even close to devoid of them. Perhaps the most pleasantly surprising part about Practice What You Preach is that, despite most of the songs have longer runtimes compared to most of the band's other tracks, it has remarkably quick and balanced pacing and seldom drags out, if ever. Ultimately, it's a solid album that warrants listening at the highest volume possible on whatever your listening means is (which might be necessary to full appreciate).

We all know Testament as one of the first pioneering Thrash Metal bands. But, even though theyre becoming just a tad washed up now, theyre first couple of albums are thrash classics and will not be forgotten. Especially Practice What You Preach, Testament's first great album. If youre a fan of thrash I definetely recommend it. Especially, "Sins Of Omission", "Practice What You Preach", and "The Ballad. 4/5
