They peaked with King but this is really fun and solid, high 3.5/low 4, enjoying this more than the last release.

It's a "good" album. But aside from the excellent Pendulum and Morphine Waltz which are fantastic
exceptions to the general quality of the album, there isn't much of value here when compared to
the rest of their discography. Song structures are simple. The songs are less melodic, and less
technical. Even most of the guitar leads seem fairly phoned in. It's just very plain and basic
sounding for them.

I?m a huge fleshgod apocalypse fan. IMO, Agony is the most under rated metal album of all time. This album is

unfortunately the bands weakest output. The opening classical singing track and closing piano track are for me the best

bits on the album. It?s not bad, the album is just missing the brutality and mesmerising melody that usually puts them at

the top of the tree of symphonic metal bands.

* After about 6 or 7 listens it’s definitely a grower. I think the opening metal track I can never die which hits after the

intro is what initially put me off the album. The vocals are almost a bit cheesy and have a kind of nu metal vibe but not in

a good way. I think this is clearly the least impressive song on the album. Now that I’ve had a few more listens it’s

actually a great album and grown on me a lot. I would still maintain it’s probably at the bottom of their discography but

this is a band with no mediocre albums.

My appreciation for Fleshgod Apocalypse reached its peak when I imagined one of their compositions serving as the opening theme for Attack on Titan. The music possesses an immense sense of grandeur and features exceptionally crafted songwriting, making it an ideal pairing. "Opera" stands out as the band's most accomplished work to date. They have wholeheartedly embraced the operatic elements within their music, with each track showcasing varied vocal styles. The drumming is intricate yet never overwhelming, enhancing the overall enjoyment to the fullest.

The Italian Fleshgods are leaning more towards melodeath than ever, which might be commercially viable but probably alienates fans of their breakthrough albums. Agony is still their best in my book.
