4.0 excellent | this space for rent | September 13th 24 | Probably the most accessible offering of Cursive's career, Devourer refines the band's off-kilter musicianship and nihilistic wit into a highly focused, easily enjoyed album that is still unmistakably Cursive.

3.1 good | Erwann S. STAFF | October 22nd 24 | Good ol' Cursive and their cello emo indie post-hardcore. As Gene said, the angrier tracks succeed at reminiscing them at their best, while the doomier ones do not really manage to get interesting.

2.5 average | Gene Gol STAFF | September 26th 24 | I am glad Cursive have retained at least a semblance of grit in their long-running career, but I am not happy with the level of tack and sap drenching their songs on this album. At its heaviest it is a nice nod to their heyday, while at its mellowest it is a middle-of-the-road corny pop-rock bore.

3.0 good | pennyroyal22 | September 17th 24 | Cursive's signature gnarled, knotty songwriting is buoyed more than the last two albums by exceptional production and mixing -- however this album is especially front-heavy so far as sheer invention goes, and gets just a bit samey-sounding by the time the final song brings everything whimpering to a halt.

4.0 excellent | Comatorium. | September 13th 24 | MUCH more revitalized and straight up vital compared to the other contemporary albums.
