The fact that everyone showed up to 1 this is exactly how you know it?s actually good at what it does. As a moderate lib, I know your kind. Buncha squids lol. This should be a 2.5-3 because it?s trash, but it?s brave, well-written trash, and y?all can?t help but give it attention. Here?s a 3 for y?all cowards who don?t respect someone who can tolerate all your judgments in the way that none of you can. Another 1 for the teen drama stirrer aficionado, soft hypocrites still 0. Honestly this is one of the worst albums of the
2020's so far.

Following a similar pattern that bands like Memphis May Fire and Crown the Empire, "Popular Monster" mostly features a collection of previously-released tracks, yet the intent this time around is mostly to etch a stepping stone in the band's catalog versus the others that felt more like contractual obligations. There's meticulous accuracy within the whole album's production, and that's probably thanks to a substantial budget used in its creation. For example, the opener 'Prequel' features a live choir instead of the safety-snyth route that lower productions would use. 'Watch the World Burn' is worth the listen alone, being an ingeniously crafted song that features a radical genre-shift halfway that feels organic. 'Trigger Warning' experiments with a ragtime-piano bridge, and 'Ronald' veers into heaviness as the track immediately after the country-rock 'All My Life'. Save for highlights from "Coming Home", this is the band's best record to date, recycled tracks and 'NO FEAR' (experimental but an oddity) aside.

if you like ronnie this will be another FIR album for you, if you hate ronnie you arent even going to listen. Not a fan of 7 of the 11 songs being already released but objectively for what it is, its not bad.
