Where some of Bladee's most recent projects come off as clean, melodic and even bright at times, 'Cold Visions' plunges deep into an anxious, dark atmosphere with a set of tracks that is beautifully unkempt and unrelenting. The album quickly reaches a high with 'YUNG SHERMAN' pairing a high-energy Bladee with intense bass before going into the emotional 'FLATLINE', a great little juxtaposition and a preview for the excellent pacing of the record. After 'FLATLINE' comes perhaps my personal favorite section of the album between 'ONE SECOND' and 'END OF THE ROAD BOYZ'. The bass is loud and kind of hilariously mixed but it fits and works with the shotgun approach where the tracks rarely have a break in between them. Things just keep moving chaotically and the chemistry between the beats, lyrics and flow of the songs reaches a high at this point of 'Cold Visions'. Yung Lean is featured a lot on the album and his verses give a nice chill balance to Bladee's varied approaches. Where the first half of the album is more rapping and bass, the second half is more melodic with more of Bladee's loved/hated singing and in the end it feels like Bladee's most complete project yet. Sad and depressing while being hype and energetic, a wild ride. Highlights are 'YUNG SHERMAN', 'SAD MEAL', 'DONT WANNA HANG OUT', 'KING NOTHINGG' and 'LUCKY LUKE'.
