| 3.0 good | pennyroyal22 | May 17th 24 | It's tragic and a damn shame that Albini is gone, and before this could be released. However in my opinion his death may color this release as something that it's not -- a masterpiece. There are some tasty, very Shellac-y jams here to be sure, and the production is clean and refined (perhaps, restrained?) to a degree that past Shellac releases were not. But that same restraint is apparent in the songwriting which is not particularly ambitious... not that it needed to be. I'm glad that there's more Shellac in the world, I am sad it will be the last, but this is unfortunately not an amazing addition to the discography.

| 3.6 great | Erwann S. EMERITUS | August 25th 24 | RIP legend. Shellac's last album testifies to the band's capacity to still come up with engaging and interesting things with their never-changing formula of noisy'n'mathy old-school post-hardcore.

| 1.0 awful | Comatorium. | May 18th 24 | ? The cover of PURE 2 is a guy holding open a toddler?s puny hole so his spuzz can dribble out. The girl is past crying. She is destroyed. [?] Like I said, I like that sort of thing.? r-Steve albini
