While I agree that releasing this album in two parts hurts it musically, to compare this
band to Meshuggah or call them djenty or say they lack groove makes no sense.
Plague Dancer might be some of the best riffs Nick has written to date.

I thought last year's first EP (dumb to have separated this album into two EPs) was lacking some "oomph", and I still think that's the main issue with this record. I'd go further and say that most djenty bands lack a crucial part of what made Meshuggah so goddamn face-crushing: the fucking groove.

When I first went into Gallery of Sleep, I was overwhelmed, there was a lot of music to digest in one go. With this released in parts, I was given more time to digest the first half, and so for me, their release strategy actually worked out, which I was not necessarily expecting.

there's some incredibly groovy basslines in this.
true the atmosphere has been stepped up in some
tracks, but the vocals definitely add the right
amount of spice and there's just enough heaviness
and noodling to go around. also aric improta fucking
shreds as always.

One of the more attention grabbing instrumental, progressive metal releases I have come across in a bit. Complex, energetic, heavy and even somewhat cinematic when it comes down to the songwriting and tension dynamics. Love the rock solid and steady bass as well as the leads and production on the drums. Crispy and a great soundtrack for a busy day at work.

It?s alright. Call me when a band comes close to the quality of carving desert canyons/the collective/the migration and you?ll have my undivided attention. Until then I can?t be convinced instrumental progressive metal didn?t die a slow boring death after 2013. Criminal underutilization of Anthony green here.
