i realize no album can live up to 12 years of hype but this is garbage and ironically the biggest reason it sucks is the same reason it took 12 years to release - the mix is horrendous. an overcompressed wall of noise with absolutely no detail. 500 tracks aren't worth shit if you can't hear them. this is honestly one of the key reasons you should never mix/master your own stuff - you get so used to the fine details that you subconsciously fill in the gaps when listening without realizing nobody else can hear them. this was a more localized issue on 'the forest season' but here it spoils the whole thing. material wise it's nothing to shout about either - an astonishing amount of filler for a 50 minute record. disappointed isn't the word.

It's comically fitting that after all this time, all these years of putrid teasers and
crowdfunding and promises, Time II is just mediocre. Not bad, but mediocre. A bunch of capable
musicians packaging up flashy, over compressed maximalism. It might be all that much more cutting
that Jari and his art are no longer even humorously narcissistic.

the culmination of everything jari has experimented with finally coming to fruition like the cherry blossoms he is so fond of. orchestral nihonan epic melodeafolk metal, overemphatic drums like a dog sled in snow, very saturated sound is nice. fields of snow a pretty magical miyazaki nippopiece, the way of the fire and storm make up the album

I agree that 20 years is somehow absurd, but yes, so far this is the best 2024 album, and by far. Epic Melodies, great
ambient, solos that will blow your heads up. Fields of snow is a good bridge from Time I to arrive to The Way of the fire,
which is 100% what you would expect from Wintersun, fast tempo, great melodies, just the vocals a bit low in the mix.
One with the shadows bring that slow tempo to give you breath to what is coming next. Ominous clouds brings you to an
absolute beast in the next song: Storm. Deadly executed riffs, nice arrangements and a good break and melodic part in
the end. Silver Leaves takes you to the most beautiful Japanish garden you will ever hear. The melody in the end with
the Finish vocals was just a perfect way to make me rewind the full album and hear it once and once again, till the end of
my days.

Honest opinion? By itself the album is alright. It's a slight downgrade from Time I, but overall enjoyable imho. The highs are high, but the lows are also quite low. Cool riffs and vocals, but way too many filler sections and pointless interludes. The songs could really be half as long as they ended up being, and it would've been a more consistent release. That the production quality ended up bricked as hell is utterly ironic given that Jari striving for the perfect mix was the main reason why the album took so long. Personally I don't mind the imperfect production though, I find it still listenable.

There are some sick guitar leads on this album, and a few good riffs scattered around. Everything
else about it is pretty lame. The album starts with something close to Nyan cat sounds. The
general bombastic sound of the main portions of songs just sound bland. It's just fairly simply
chord progressions with several layers that drone on covered in a layer of plastic artificiality.
The clean vocals come in and out without making any sort of impression. The entire final song is
mind numbingly boring. And there are about 11-14 minutes of completely pointless filler on the
album (depending on if you count the interlude, which is a pretty tasty guitar driven
instrumental)

Not gonna lie, this is a band I just have never had the opportunity to check out our listen to. Decided to give this a spin and I am super impressed. Gonna go check out the rest of the catalogue now! I feel sorry for people who have waited for years and maybe that has put a sour note on it for some, my totally fresh ears are happy here.

Having been detached from the Wintersun crisis generally, I do not care what the whole issue here is. What I care about is good music. You are lying to yourself, if you find this as anything more than overproduced yet underserved, overwritten yet underdeveloped, oversaturated yet vapid ridiculous vomit of an everything bagel for a metal album.
