This early 00's screamo era was amazing, and I'm tired of pretending it wasn't. Glad its back.

Yes bring the sass. SYSC's trip to 2000s nostalgia is once again a home run with their blend of mathy post-hardcore and sugary emo-pop that hits its theatrical high on Coup de grace - regarding this grandeur, I would have just loved them to expand on the "neo-noir" vibe they teased.

The cleans actually elevate this a lot, this is super 04core sassy and it rules

Prepare your eyeliner and fingerless black gloves because Seeyouspacecowboy, the mall emo revival band of the 2010s, is back with their third album, "Coup de grâce." This album serves as a continuation of the style and sound the band has been honing since their debut in 2019. It's a gripping, high-energy post-hardcore experience with hints of sasscore and mathcore that leave you craving more. However, compared to their sophomore release, "The Romance of Affliction," "Coup de grâce" feels slightly less exhilarating, particularly evident on tracks like "Lubricant Like Kerosene." Nevertheless, the album is skillfully executed and is sure to evoke a nostalgic rush of high school emotions.

The new Seeyouspacecowboy - now filled with even more lousy singing. Seriously the clean
vocals are just not good enough to be as present as they are in their songwriting.

It is pretty wild to come back to this band only 6 years later after listening to their compilation album in 2019 pretty extensively. While a lot of the instrumental work still remains in the underbelly from their early work, the surface couldn't have changed more. The production is clean and a different vocalist dominates the landscape with clean emo-pop melodies. On one hand, the contrast between the post-hardcore/sasscore and the poppy emo elements is interesting but in the end the clean vocals are just too much of a focus. I feel like I need to visit Hot Topic after this record, which is both a great thing to think about and also not where I thought SYSC would go so fast. Still some great breakdowns, dissonant riffs and general chaos to be found but feels too giftwrapped at times. Random thought but the SYSC hate5six video from Nov 27 2018 remains one of the best music sets on the internet!

This shit fucking rocks. Tons of fun, goes by quick and hooks for days. I'm dancing

A lot of this is really bad filler. But some of these tracks bang, and even the limper songs have some really solid parts. They've perfected their brand of metalcore breakdown and the energetic drumming really elevates the record overall
