Exciting disso-death album, delivering not just the riffs but a melancholic and eerie atmosphere as well. Pretty much you can feel the better kind of Ulcerate-ish vibes in this album, but the result is definitely less fierce -- and personally I find this direction more appealing.

Convulsing converts the hopes he created with already-awesome Grievous into bona fide certitudes: this dude is a master at crafting dissonant death metal whose balance between mathematical rhythms and atmospheric respirations shines is only rivaled by how emotionally rewarding these dynamics are.

Ulcerate is great and all but this is the first dissodeath album that appeals to me as a whole and not as an esoteric niche that I?m only rarely in the mood for. The musicality here is next level. An avalanche of riffs to the fucking skull is about right.
