Definitely the most mellow (but still tough) album they've made. Was afraid they'd settle
into a groove after the success of the s/t and just make more songs that sound like that,
but they have a good amount of variety on this beast

U people get a hard on for anything with twinkly
production and god awful cringe cleans don't u???
Riffs are lifeless, the vox are bland and the wanna
be ambient/electronic atmospheric experimentation
falls terribly flat. The epitome of generic
metalcore in 2024.
Valek u have multiple Tool 4.5s ur opinion on music
in general is irrelevant.

Gotta agree with Hawks on this one. None of the promise that Erra displayed on their first two albums is present here. The "riffs" are generic and dull, the drumming is phoned in, and the songwriting is very repetitive. Good for background noise, but there's not much to dive into here. At least the production is spot-on!

This album is definitely different from the self-titled. Far groovier, with a heavier emphasis on atmosphere. The band rreally leaned into the NIN influence on this one. I dig it, though it didn't blow me away like the S/T did

ERRA has always been generic metalcore and haven?t been that good really ever. Turned this off after 3 songs. Just boring, lifeless, and no energy. Plus the cleans are atrocious

Loved this on first listen. Went for a run and let it wash over me. Very floaty and not very riff centric, but I appreciate that vibe. Drums let this down the most I think, very little creativity or flare.

I'm just here to offset Hawks and his lovely review. But what do I know, I'm not edgy enough and don't have great enough taste like Hawks to understand what good metal is!

It's commendable that ERRA made the decision to instead of doing more of what worked with their 2021 self-titled album, they instead went with a different songwriting approach and mixer/producer. "CURE" forgoes using octave-shift lead guitar lines and instead becomes more of a soundscape record creating unique swells and sounds from the instrumentation within each track mix. Choruses featured on songs like 'Idle Wild' and 'Pale Iris' still remain catchy as ever, something that the band nearly has down at this point, but perhaps it was the fact that their self-titled was so good that it's hard to live up to something like that. "CURE" shouldn't be dismissed at all for any fan of ERRA, and while my personal score might be lower than usual for this kind of thing, it's not meant to be discouraging for wanting to hear new ideas on future works.

For sure their weakest overall record yet, which is not saying much, considering that ERRA is and always has been the spearhead of modern metalcore following the tried and true, cookie cutter formula of progressive riffs, breakdowns, growls and the obligatory clean chorus inbetween. Since 15 years they are basically doing the Killswitch Engage routine with better production, better technicality, and more hard-hitting emotional highs as well as bits of brutality. Their breakdowns are just heavier, as well as played more brainy - think Misery Signals (but not entirely on the level on the latter). Unfortunately though, all in all it's getting a bit stale by now. The formula has worn off. 2024's ERRA seem write songs as if they're on autopilot. As if the studio had said, we need a new album by tomorrow - get going guys! Which is a little sad because we as the listeners don't get banger hits like Snowblood, House of Glass, Breach, Skyline, Hybrid Earth, or White Noise anymore. Which is unfortunate, as I already said. Still worth your while though for sure, especially if you're into modern metalcore and just can't get enough from this particular muscial trope.
